Even though the Pouzars, who met while attending Baylor College of Medicine, could have excelled at any medical specialty, they deliberately chose to establish a family practice. “We experienced environments— including emergency room situations—where patients were treated and released, and then we never had an opportunity to see them again,” says Dr. Joe. “We wanted to offer people a different kind of doctor-patient relationship.”
