It’s been two decades since Joe Pouzar, Jr., MD and Linda Pouzar, MD set up their family practice. Over the years, they have taken care of countless families and several generations of patients. Their family-owned practice is committed to delivering the finest possible primary health care to clients of all ages.

What keeps families coming back to Dr. Joe and Dr. Linda? It starts with the safe, secure and stress-free experience they get every time they visit. Even though the Pouzars, who met while attending Baylor College of Medicine, could have excelled at any medical specialty, they deliberately chose to establish a family practice. “We experienced environments— including emergency room situations—where patients were treated and released, and then we never had an opportunity to see them again,” says Dr. Joe. “We wanted to offer people a different kind of doctor-patient relationship.”

“We take time to see every patient as a person,” Dr. Linda explains. “We ask about what’s going on in their lives, because we are taking care of the whole individual, not just a particular condition or disease. By building a relationship, creating an atmosphere of trust, and by listening, we let patients feel more comfortable talking about a problem. We want them to feel that this is their medical home. That makes a difference, because when patients feel rushed or stressed, valuable clues to their overall health picture are lost.”

Clear Lake Family Physicians has become a fixture in the Clear Lake community and beyond. Patients come from as far away as Plano, and the Pouzars have traveled to Mexico, Indonesia and other nations as a part of medical mission teams. There’s an international flavor within the office setting, too— many staff members are fluent in Spanish, and on any given day, the sound of Mandarin, Vietnamese, Italian, German or other languages might be heard there.

For the convenience of patients, Clear Lake Family Physicians offers a wide array of primary care services on-site including lab work, outpatient testing, x-ray, EKG, breathing tests, comprehensive physical exams, cryotherapy, bone densities and minor office surgeries. The practice has partnerships with a number of specialists. These doctors have office hours at the clinic, saving patients from driving to distant or unfamiliar locations for specialist care. In addition, the practice offers patient education and consultations on preventive care.
